Twitter Expands with Growing Popularity, Says Biz Stone

Biz Stone, one of the co-founders of Twitter, confirmed today that the online social networking site will begin offering corporate accounts which will cost business money should they wish to have a corporate account with the site. The increasingly popular social networking avenue plans to allow commercial account users to more access to analytical equipment as well as access feedback options from their users.

Stone said in an interview with BBC news that the website will allow commercial account users to have access to a special layer of the social network site which would allow them access more features. These services will range from allowing commercial users to garner consumer feedback to a myriad of tools which can be used to analysis trends and demands in business. Stone was adamant about stressing the free nature of Twitter, and how that would not change. He simply added that Twitter would incorporating a few for-a-fee services. These new services would not affect the free accounts of its current or new users.

Additionally, Stone took time in the interview to comment on potential team-ups with Google or Bing for search engine expansion or the possibility of expanding into a larger media company. He said that there are definitely some companies, such as Google and Bing, that he would look to be involved with in the future.

Stone said that with currently over 7 million Twitter users online, and the upcoming launch of two new corporate deals with both Vodafone and Orange, that the company will be busy with plenty of work in the coming months getting the Twitter-world ready for the next phase of its evolution.
