Miley Cyrus’ Tour Bus Crashes Leaving 1 Dead
Miley Cyrus’ tour bus was involved in a collision Friday afternoon resulting in the death of the bus’ driver, Bill Douglas. The pop princess issued a statement later in the afternoon regarding the early morning incident which took Douglas’ life after it crashed and rolled over on November 20.
Cyrus’ camp made the statement that the Cyrus’ family is deeply saddened by the loss of “Uncle Bill” and that members of her tour are like their family. They also said that Miley’s thoughts and prayers were with his family that evening amongst the tragedy that had befallen them.
The Virginia Sate Police, where the incident took place, also released a statement saying that they are investigating the crash which took place on Interstate 85 at Dinwiddle County, Virginia early on Friday morning. Douglas, 53, was driving the bus, one of four of Cyrus’ for her tour, and died at the scene of the accident. Miley was not on the bus when the crash took place. 9 other crew members for the tour were on board but all survived exiting the bus through its front windshield after the crash.
Douglas was from Austin, Texas and was driving crew members to Cyrus’ next show which will take place Sunday night in Greensboro, North Carolina. The truck ran off at the left side of the highway striking an embankment which caused it to overturn towards the right. Another crew member from Canada was also injured but her injuries were minor and she was treated at a local hospital.
The main cause of the accident has not yet been determined by officials although an investigation is pending. TMZ has already obtained the 911 calls which were placed at the scene of the crash once Douglas went into cardiac arrest. It has not yet been ruled whether Douglas went into cardiac arrest before or after the accident.
Miley Cyrus’ show will continue as scheduled on Sunday said a spokesperson from her camp.
