Children In Need Telethon Makes £20.3 million With Star Studded Cast
Children In Need, a charity run by the BBC just reached their target fundraising goal of £20.3 million which is only slightly less than what they raised last year at the same telethon held annually. The money was brought in after various groups performed on their Friday evening telethon programme.
Various acts performed on stage for the TV charity night including Peter Andre, Alison Moyet, and Stereophonics. Additionally the BBC newsreaders gave a special performance of hits from pop-star Beyonce including Single Ladies and Crazy In Love. The show latest seven hours.
The 30th annual telethon which solely benefits the Children in Need came to a close when Terry Wogan along with hosts Tess Daly and Alesha Dixon pleaded with their fellow Brits to break last year’s record number of contributions totaling £38 million.
The seasoned broadcaster stated that the event went phenomenally and although they did not quite break the record they came quite close. He also added that by the close of a month’s time the charity will have raised close to what they were able to rake in last year.
Peter Kay gave the first performance at this year’s charity event, the comedian performed a series of popular kids TV shows from programmes such as Bill and Ben, Peppa Pig, Teletubbies, and Paddington Bear. The performance was placed under the title the Animated All Star Band and a CD with the track featuring over 100 popular kids characters will be released.
The Dragons’ Den team also came out to perform using hard hats and overalls in order to aid the Children In Need community centre renovation in London. Also in attendance where the cast of Doctor Who, EastEnders, and Strictly Come Dancing.
