Glastonbury 2010 to be Headlined by U2
Glastonbury 2010 is set to be a grand festival, as it was confirmed on Monday that U2 will be the headliner. They have been set for the top spot on the stage on Friday, June 25 next year for what will be their first appearance at the festival ever.
Michael Eavis, the event organizer, promised everyone something special for the festival’s 40th anniversary, and booking the band, who has been rumored to be headlining the event every year since the middle of the 1980s, has better secured the attendance of thousands of happy fans. He says that the 26-year-old rumor is coming true, and it couldn’t be better to have the world’s best band playing at the world’s best festival for its 40th year anniversary. Eavis added that they have even more surprises though.
U2 is set to fly to the UK in order to perform at the festival while in the middle of their tour in North America. Earlier in the year, U2’s Bono told BBC Radio 1 that they hadn’t been confirmed for the festival next year, but they were sure to play for it at some point. He added that he knew many people want them to, and it’s something they have been working their lives to do.
The 2010 Glastonbury Festival was actually sold out in October after organizers decided to release them early, as this was successful for ticket sales to this year’s events. Next year’s festival will be held from June 25 - 27. There haven’t been any other headliners confirmed yet, and there’s no telling when they will be announced. Everyone will probably get the chance to savor the good news of U2 for a little while at least.
