Simon Cowell says Stacey Solomon sounds like a wedding singer

This week’s X Factor sees contestants battling it out for a place in the semi-finals. The theme was one song to be chosen from the Elton John catalogue and one to be chosen from the Take That repertoire. It was a good week for Danyl Johnson who chose to sing Relight My Fire by Take That. The judges were all very pleased and Louis Walsh praised Johnson for getting his mojo back. For his Elton John number Johnson chose Your Song and once again managed to impress. Cheryl Cole said that they were again seeing the singer they all first fell in love with during the shows initial auditions.

Unfortunately things didn’t go so well for Lloyd Daniels. Still trying to recover from the boos he received a week ago for still being in the competition he tried to keep it together through his versions of A Million Love Songs and I’m Still Standing. Louis Walsh pointed out that the public must like Lloyd because he had made it to the last five acts but he was not impressed. Simon Cowell kept his most scathing criticism for Stacey Solomon who sang If I Ruled The World by Take That as well as Elton John’s Something About The Way You Look Tonight. He said that Solomon sounded like a wedding singer. He said that by using the term wedding singer he meant that her voice was more subtle than some of the shows previous female winners. The star of the night was probably Joe McElderry who wowed all of the judges and is currently bookies favourite to take the X Factor crown.
