I Dreamed A Dream Tops UK Album Charts for Susan Boyle

Susan Boyle has been living the dream - not only her own, but the dream of all music artists. Her new “I Dreamed A Dream” album took the top of the charts in the UK, but also made a record for the most albums sold by a debut artist during its first week of release.

Boyle’s album sold over 410,000 copies, which beat out the previous record held by Leona Lewis, the winner of “X Factor” last year. This also outsold JLS, Black Eyed Peas and Queen in the UK. It is expected that worldwide sales for the debut week will pass one million, as she is also very popular in the US.

The new superstar was a finalist in “Britain’s Got Talent”, taking off with her rendition of “I Dreamed A Dream” for her audition. During the competition she came under so much pressure and stress due to being thrown into the spotlight that she was hospitalized for exhaustion. Then more recently, Boyle did a US tour where fans practically mobbed her, which resulted in her crying after a performance in New York. She hasn’t had to be hospitalized again though.

Her spokesman says that she is already outselling Lady Gaga, Rihanna and 50 Cent in America, with sales for the first week projected to be about one million. If this happens, she will break Eminem’s record for the most sold copies in the first week of release for this year in the US.

The credit of discovering Boyle has been given to Simon Cowell, who is a music mogul and producer of “Britain’s Got Talent”. He says that he is very proud of her, noting that she did it her way and made her dream come true. The world fell in love with her, he added, which is why the album is selling faster than any woman making a debut.
