Alec Baldwin to Quit Acting in 2012
Actor Alec Baldwin has given everyone a shock, telling Men’s Journal in an interview that he isn’t interested in acting anymore and considers his career in films a failure. The 51-year-old’s interview will be featured in the magazine’s December issue.
Baldwin is best known currently for his Emmy award winning role in “30 Rock”, a comedy series aired on NBC, as well as being chosen to co-host the 2010 Oscars alongside Steve Martin. He is also well known for his roles in the 1997 film “The Edge”, the 1988 release of “Beetlejuice”, the 2003 movie “The Cooler”, and the 1990 action movie “The Hunt for Red October”. There are also many other films he has been a part of.
However, he tells the mag that he has been doing films for 30 years, movies are part of his past, and although he isn’t young, he still has time to do something else. Baldwin adds that it is pretty much over for him after “30 Rock”. He considers his film career a failure, as he never starred in a film where his performance drives the movie, adding that he just avoids every movie he has ever been in. He also told Playboy that his career will be over in 2012.
Baldwin has previously expressed an interest to get involved in politics, but didn’t say during the interview with Men’s Journal his intentions after quitting acting. He has recently acted in “It’s Complicated” with co-stars Meryl Streep and Steve Martin, which is set to release on Christmas day. Readers can pick up the December issue on Friday when it hits newsstands.
