Simon Cowell Talks Las Vegas X Factor
Plans for launching “X Factor” in the US have been announced by Simon Cowell. He has revealed that he is teaming up with Sir Philip Green of fashion retailer Topshop to start up a £100 million media company to take care of the move. This version of the show, which is a hit in the UK, is anticipated to air on Fox starting next fall and will be filmed in Las Vegas.
According to Sir Philip, they have a permanent place already, likely Caesar’s Palace. The final 12 contestants on the show will get to live their dream of singing in Vegas.
Simon is currently contracted to judge “American Idol”, another one of his shows that airs on Fox. However, it’s expected that he will renegotiate his deal early in the year so that the show will continue in the spring and avoid clashing with the new “X Factor” series.
Simon Fuller, the creator of “American Idol”, says that it wouldn’t have been his first choice to bring the British show to America. However, he understands the desire from Simon to be in another television show like he does in the UK with “Britain’s Got Talent” and “X Factor”, adding that the financial reward is considerable and irresistible.
“X Factor” is already aired in 20 countries around the world, and this one is sure to be appealing to more than just America. It is set to feature two shows per week with international contestants, which they anticipate will attract millions of viewers from all over, as it will also be shown online.
