Susan Boyle Tops UK Album Charts Again
Susan Boyle has certainly been living the dream, as her debut album “I Dreamed A Dream” stayed number one on the UK album charts for the second consecutive week. After taking the top spot during its first week, the album became the best-selling debut in history for the UK chart, selling over 410,000 copies. Now it’s sold more than 700,000!
The singing talent was discovered after her audition of “I Dreamed A Dream” on ITV’s “Britain’s Got Talent” in the UK. The footage of this was put on YouTube and immediately sparked worldwide attention, attracting hundreds of millions of viewers in only a couple weeks. And although she was only runner-up for the final of the show, she made such an impact on viewers around the world that she has soared to fame since only April of this year.
Her album released in the US as well, selling more than 700,000 copies in just the first week. It will be exciting for her to see how much the sales have increased for the second week. It is also notable that she broke records in the US too - one for the most sold albums during the first week of a female debut since they started tracking the figures in 1991.
Aside from her fame in music and on “Britain’s Got Talent”, her new fans will get to watch her again on television in a special program to air on December 13. “I Dreamed A Dream: The Susan Boyle Story” will feature interviews with the singing sensation, as well as her friends. The program can be seen on the TV Guide network in the US and on ITV1 in the UK.
