ITV Apologizes for I’m A Celebrity Rat Killing

ITV has publicly apologized for the alleged killing and eating of a pet rat by contestants on the latest “I’m A Celebrity” series. The broadcaster said that this was an oversight of the production team, as they failed to check if it was legal or not to kill a rat. They added that they will review their procedures.

The apology comes after authorities in Australia decided not to prosecute producers of the show. However, chef Gino D’Acampo, who was crowned King of the Jungle on Friday for winning the competition, as well as fellow contestant and former “Hollyoaks” star Stuart Manny are being charged with animal cruelty. There is a court date set for February 3 in New South Wales to hear their case.

The killing and eating of the rat came after the group of contestants were split into two camps, with one of them in exile and given meager rations. The contestants were only trying to add some meat to their pathetic rice and beans diet.

What’s so upsetting about this is that ITV has openly admitted that the contestants were given the go ahead to kill and eat the rat after getting health and safety advice about if there were any harmful effects from doing so. This means that the show is really responsible for it happening in the first place, and Gino and Stuart should not be going on trial for something they were told was okay for them to do.

This is a totally messed up situation! If anyone should be taking responsibility for illegally killing and eating a rat, then it should be whoever told Gino and Stuart that they could it. How were they suppose to know about the laws? ITV is completely at fault here, and the court date should be for them!
