Lady Gaga Meets Queen Elizabeth II at Royal Variety Performance
On Monday in Blackpool, England at Winter Gardens, Lady Gaga got the chance to meet Queen Elizabeth II of England, as well as perform for her during the annual Royal Variety Performance. This was a very exciting event for the lady of pop music, and she said in an interview that she even practiced her curtsy.
For the performance and meet, Lady Gaga wore a red PVC dress that had a twenty foot cloak and ruffles on the shoulders. It was a great outfit, one that was chosen after toning down her style for the appearance. She told reporters that she was told that her suicide scene wouldn’t be appropriate for the show, so she toned it down a little, along with her attire. Instead of acting out the suicide, she chose to sit on a swing hanging twelve feet in the air while she played her piano, which was sitting on stilts.
The pop singer added that she didn’t even care about having to be a little more reserved, as she is a huge fan of the Queen. She still got to be herself and put on a great performance of “Speechless” - one that the Queen was apparently enthusiastic about when looking at video footage from their meeting.
Lady Gaga was only the most outrageous star to perform on Monday night, with Michael Buble, Miley Cyrus, Bette Midler, Mika, Diversity and Alexandra Burke among the eighty performances. Funny man Peter Kay hosted the night, and the show is set to air on ITV1 on December 16 for all to see.
