Barbara Walters Reveals 10 Most Fascinating People of 2009

On Wednesday, Barbara Walters gave the US her picks for the “10 Most Fascinating People of 2009″, which didn’t hold too many surprises for many. The list comprised of a few popular yet controversial people, including Adam Lambert and Lady Gaga, but didn’t leave out the first lady.

Number 10 on her list was actually three people - Michael Jackson’s children, Prince Michael Jr., Prince Michael II (aka Blanket) and Paris Michael Katherine. The three have been thrown into the spotlight since their father died at the end of June, and there’s no doubt the world has been fascinated with how they are handling it and what they are doing now.

The 9th pick on the list was Jenny Sanford, South Carolina’s former first lady to Governor Mark Sanford, the politician who admitted to having an affair with an Argentinian woman. Number 8 goes to Brett Favre, who now plays as the Minnesota Vikings’ quarterback, achieving 3 consecutive MVP awards and not shocking everyone with his return to the NFL after retiring for the second time.

Governor Sarah Palin, who was a vice presidential candidate for the 2008 presidential election alongside Senator John McCain, was picked for number 7. This pick isn’t very surprising, as she has since been in new headlines for her controversial views and family issues. Then number 6 went to Adam Lambert, another not so surprising pick - especially due to his very recent performance at the American Music Awards.

“Jon & Kate Plus 8″ reality star Kate Gosselin was chosen as number 5, as she has been a very controversial figure since her very public divorce from Jon. Tyler Perry, an entertainment mogul, was listed as 4th on the list. He is most popular for the “Madea…” films and television series like “House of Payne”.

Glenn Beck has been a very controversial political commentator for years, and he deserves a spot on the list at number 3. Plus, Lady Gaga, the new Queen of Pop, comes in at number 2, and she is nothing short of controversial - from the lyrics in her songs to her style of fashion to the fact that she openly admits to having sexual relationships with both men and women. The most deserving reason for her be on the list, however, is due to four of the songs on her debut album topping the single’s charts.

Number 1on the list is first lady Michelle Obama, maybe the most surprising addition to the list. She is a mom and a strong role model for all women. Since before Obama was voted president, everyone has been fascinated with her, including what she eats, how she exercises and how she does her hair and makeup.
