Jonathan Ross accused of stealing a sketch
American comedian Jimmy Fallon has accused Jonathan Ross of running out of ideas after he allegedly stole the idea of having a famous actor read out the lyrics of a Lady Gaga song. Fallon said that he initially came up with the idea when he asked Jude Law to read out the lyrics to Poker Face in a Shakespearean style. A month later, Jonathan Ross asked actor Christopher Walken to do the exact same thing.
Law was told that this had happened whilst promoting his new film Sherlock Holmes on Fallon’s show. He said that it was ‘wobbery’ in reference to what he called the British presenter’s terrible lisp. Many U.K. viewers might however remember that it was Jonathan Ross who persuaded actor Samuel L. Jackson to read out some Joe Dolce lyrics on his show some years ago.
Jude Law was appearing in Hamlet at the time when Fallon asked him to read out the Lady Gaga lyrics and the skit quickly became extremely popular on YouTube. Fallon announced that he was willing to offer Ross the rights to one of his shows features called Lick It For $10.00 which sees members of the audience offered the chance to lick random objects in return for $10.00. He even suggested that Ross could call the segment Lick It For £10.00.
The skit is far from original and David Letterman would be well within his rights to accuse Fallon of stealing the idea because some years ago he got Hollywood heavy weight James Earl Jones to read out song lyrics in a similar way.
