Pete Doherty Arrested Again after Drugs and Driving Conviction
Rocker Pete Doherty was arrested again just moments after he was given a fine for drunk driving and possession of drugs. The singer attended Gloucester Crown Court to plead guilty to unrelated charges for careless driving, driving while intoxicated, driving without a license, driving without insurance and possession of heroin, but was only fined £2,050, as well as banned from driving for the next year-and-a-half, for the charges.
However, he was arrested on suspicion of carrying drugs into the courtroom. Police say that what appeared to be a plastic packet of drugs fell out of Doherty’s pocket while he checked in at the security desk. The rocker was then arrested again when the hearing concluded and taken to a nearby police station for questioning.
A witness said that he was frisked by a security officer upon entering the court. However, after dropping a clingfilm wrap packet from his pockets when emptying them, the security officer picked it up only to see that it contained little blue-like crystals and then proceeded to call the police. There were about 6 officers who waited to arrest him until the case was concluded, the source added.
This is definitely not the first time Doherty has been arrested and convicted on drug possession and driving charges. The court heard at the hearing this week that he has had 21 drug convictions, as well as 6 motoring offenses. A spokeswoman for the Gloucestershire Constabulary only said that a 30-year-old Wiltshire man was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance and is currently assisting authorities with questions.
