Boy George Barred from Celebrity Big Brother

North London’s Boy George says that he isn’t too upset with a High Court judge banning him from appearing on “Celebrity Big Brother”. The DJ and singer, whose real name is George O’Dowd, is under probation after being released from jail for falsely imprisoning and assaulting a rent boy.

The Probation Service had previously banned Boy George from being on the Channel 4 program, which is set to start on January 3. He was appealing to the High Court to get the decision turned. He said that he would have been able to get £400,000 for being on the show. However, the application was dismissed, and Justice Bean ruled that the public wouldn’t like that an offender, serving the non-custodial part of an imprisonment sentence, was appearing on such a high profile and controversial program, which would only promote his status as a celebrity.

After the ruling, Boy George released a statement saying that he isn’t very upset that the judge denied his application to appear on “Celebrity Big Brother”. He always wondered if it would be the right move, he said of himself, but now the decision has been passed down by a High Court judge. He added that he is more than happy to accept the decision, saying that the judge may be a good fairy.

Boy George also talked about his future, saying that he looks forward to April 15, when his sentence will be over, and he will be free to travel, work and pay his taxes. Although he’s missing out on the opportunity to earn from appearing on the show, he says that there is more to life than money, adding that there will be other opportunities for him to make it.
