Ricky Whittle Due in Court Over Dangerous Driving Charge
Ricky Whittle, a star on Strictly Come Dancing, will appear before a New Year court in the wake of a reckless and dangerous driving charge. Whittle, who was one of the judges favourites, was unable to earn high public votes.
The Hollyoaks actor finished out the popular reality show last week as a runner-up, but last month had previously been arrested when he hit a photographer while driving his car. Merseyside Police charged the 29-year old actor on Wednesday and he will be expected to appear before a magistrate’s court at January 15.
According to authorities, the actor walked into the station of his own accord in Merseyside. The police held him for further questioning and then he was later released on bail. The alleged altercation took place after Whittle arrived back in Liverpool, where his hit show Hollyoaks is filmed.
The actor had been at a party previously in the evening at Parr Street Studios which was thrown by the Channel Four TV show’s producers and attended by most of his co-workers.
Whittle had been the favourite of Strictly Come Dancing’s judges to take the win in the hit reality show, but lost the popular vote and was beaten out by Chris Hollins, a sports presenter, in the final performance.
The reckless driving incident took place shortly after the actor left the party and encountered photographers while heading out. The actor became agitated and allegedly struck a photographer with his car.
