Boy George’s Appeal to High Court Denied

Boy George has gone public with his plea to the High Court to allow him to participate in the popular reality show Celebrity Big Brother. The failed pop star announced yesterday that the show had offered him a hefty paycheck of £400,000 to appear on the show.

The singer and former DJ, 48, said that the Big Brother show would have been an opportunity for him to earn at least £400,000, however his ability to work has been put on hold due to an order from the High Court.

Earlier in the week, Boy George lost his court appeal requesting that the High Court suspend the restriction on his work allowance in order for him to appear on the hit Channel 4 reality show. The shamed pop DJ is on probation after spending four months in jail.

Boy George was previously sentenced to 15 months in jail after he handcuffed and abused an escort at his residence. The male escort, Auden Carlsen, claimed that George had detained him and beat him at his residence.

George announced after the ruling that he was happy to accept the High Court’s decision now that it has been handed down on his appeal. Mr Justice Bean who oversaw George’s appeal said that any offender who is currently undertaking a noncustodial section in their sentence has no business taking part within as high a profile production as Celebrity Big Brother.
