Rachel Christie ashamed of losing Miss England crown after brawl

Rachel Christie who was due to represent England in the Miss World finals in South Africa has spoken about how disappointed she is with herself for being stripped of the title after a night-club brawl in Manchester. Miss Christie, who is the niece of athlete Linford Christie, said that after she was arrested for attacking Sara Beverly Jones she was unable to face her family for two weeks. She said that she realises that many people invested time and effort in her and that she let them all down after she briefly lost control. The fight with Miss Jones, who was also Miss Manchester, was the result of what Miss Christie called the pairs history. Both models had been involved with Gladiator star, David McIntosh.

Miss Christie says that she believes Miss Jones was jealous of her involvement with Mr. McIntosh. She claims that Miss Jones took her glass from her in a provocative manner when inside the Manchester nightclub and that everything was a blur after that. She says that it was an act of spite that made Miss Jones to contact the police because she believes it was not as bigger deal as it has since become. Miss Christie will learn on 11th January whether she will be officially charged with assaulting Miss Jones. Miss Christie says that she hopes that she can do something now to make her family proud of her again. She hopes to follow in the footsteps of her uncle Linford by being chosen to compete in the 400 meters at the London Olympics.
