Heavy Snow in UK to Cause More Disruption

England has been issued extreme weather warnings for heavy snowfall. The weather conditions are set to cause even further disruptions to travel on roads, railways and in the air. Hundreds of schools have already been closed, as well as many airports, which has caused a large amount of flights to be canceled.

The UK has already suffered its fair share of snow and icy weather, and even more snow fell overnight after the Met Office predicted the possibility of extremely heavy snowfall in some areas while the Arctic weather continues south. This is said to be the most snow the nation has seen in half a century.

Commuters will face a hard journey to work today, as accidents are bound to halt traffic on roads. Parts of the A1 have actually been shutdown. Meanwhile air and rail travelers will find it hard to lift off the ground. Bristol Airport closed early in the morning to clear the runway of snow, while easyJet has already canceled over 70 flights from a number of airports, including Belfast, Luton, Gatwick, Newcastle and Bristol. Trains are also seeing some congestion due to the weather.

The Met Office said on Tuesday night that Berkshire, Hampshire, Wiltshire, Dorset and Oxfordshire will be among the areas worst hit by the heavy weather. They predicted between 15cm and 30cm of snowfall, with an excess of 40cm. People are advised to stay home unless they have to travel, and if they do drive, they are told to take extreme caution, as treated roads will still be slippery even though they appear to be free of snow and ice.
