Robin Hood Airport Twitter Bomb Threat Joker Arrested
A tweet posted about a week ago from British traveler Paul Chambers wasn’t funny to authorities. He posted on the site that Robin Hood Airport was closed (which was due to the huge amount of snowfall), and he was going to blow the airport sky high if they didn’t get everything running again in a week.
This wasn’t a smart idea at all, especially since security at airports has been increased due to the failed Christmas Day bombing on a US flight. Needless to say, he was arrested under the Criminal Law Act 1977 shortly after on suspicion of communicating a bomb hoax. He then posted bail more than 6 hours after being questioned, and he had his iPhone and computer temporarily confiscated, while the Twitter message was deleted.
Since the incident, many other Twitterers have posted their disbelief that the guy would do this, as well as offered their support. Chambers has also been asked to do interviews by journalists.
South Yorkshire officers say that Chambers was released on bail due to the comment, which means he’s expected to appear in court. They advised the public to use sites like Twitter appropriately, as they can be easily accessed by anyone, and any inappropriate use may attract unnecessary concern and lead to reports sent to police.
Robin Hood Airport director Mike Morton said that their passengers’ and staff’s safety is their top priority, and they work close with South Yorkshire police to ensure that any behavior that is unacceptable is addressed immediately. They won’t tolerate activity of this kind, he added.
Chambers keeps his tweets locked on the site, which means that only his followers, whom he has to accept, can see what he posts. So it can be inferred that either he had a police officer for a friend or one of his so-called friends ratted him out. It doesn’t really matter though, as comments like these should not be made available for any part of the public to read if someone’s just blowing off steam.

The police are only interested in this case becasue they will be able to give him a big fine, if the crime has no monetary value to them you will be hard pressed for them to investigate anything unless ofcourse they can fine you,
