Apple Tablet Confirmed Ahead of Announcement
Steve Jobs has invited everyone to see the revealing of their newest project - the Apple tablet. The announcement is to take place today (Wednesday, January 27) in San Francisco after months of speculation. However, it seems that the device has already been confirmed?
On Tuesday, before Jobs is to make the announcement about the new computer device, the CEO of McGraw-Hill, a major US book publisher, decided to confirm the project. Terry McGraw told CNBC that the tablet would be revealed and that it will run a version of the iPhone operating system. McGraw added that they have worked with Apple for a while. McGraaw also revealed that 95% of their textbooks are in e-book format and will be available on Apple’s tablet.
To contradict the boss’s spilling of the “secret”, however, a company spokesman downplayed the comments, telling media that McGraw-Hill is as eager as everyone else to see the tablet. Plus, McGraw-Hill head of corporate communications Stephen Weiss wouldn’t confirm if McGraw was actually describing the new tablet from Apple. He said that there have been a lot of rumors, and they are excited to see the device for themselves and how it will be used to advance business information platforms and education.
If all of this is true, the new tablet computer may have the same effect on media and publishing that iTunes and the iPhone had on digital music. It may even spark more excitement into the tablet market, which hasn’t fully taken off yet. Many people don’t even know much about these devices, but with Apple releasing one of their own, it will more than spark interest from businesses and college students, as Apple always delivers.
