Boston Legal Star Justin Mentell Dies in Crash
Justin Mentell, an actor who appeared on Boston Legal, died on Monday after crashing his Jeep in rural Wisconsin. The Iowa County Sheriff’s Department says that the 27-year-old’s vehicle went off the highway and into a steep embankment. It collided with two trees, and since Mentell wasn’t wearing his seat belt he was thrown from the Jeep and pronounced dead at the scene.
It is believed that the accident happened about 3:30am, but it wasn’t first reported until 8:30am when a farmer spotted the vehicle while driving. John Pepper, the chief deputy, said that it looks as though Mentell was there were a number of hours. The Jeep wasn’t spotted until so much later, because there are a lot of trees in the area, he continued.
Pepper said that the farmer saw the vehicle after sunrise while driving on Moscow Road. He added that there isn’t any indication that drugs or alcohol were causes for the crash, but they are performing routine toxicology tests, which won’t be completed for 6-8 weeks.
Mentell played the role of attorney Garrett Wells on “Boston Legal”, which is aired on ABC, for two years. He was co-stars with William Shatner and James Spader on the program, and last year he appeared in CG animated movie “G-Force”, which is about a group of secret agent animals, as a human character.
There has been a statement left on the actor’s website, saying that Mentell’s family and friends thank everyone for visiting the site. It adds that they are planning memorial services.
