Charlie Sheen Goes to Rehab as Preventative Measure
Actor Charlie Sheen has taken it upon himself to go to rehab and is taking a break from “Two and a Half Men”, the top-rated comedy television series. Sheen’s publicist Stan Rosenfield wrote in a statement that the 44-year-old is seeking the treatment as a preventative measure, and they ask for privacy in the matter. He also noted that they didn’t plan to give any further statements.
This move comes only about 2 months after the actor was arrested over a fight with is wife, Brooke Mueller, in their Aspen, Colorado home. Sheen was later charged with felony menacing and misdemeanor charges of criminal mischief and third-degree assault by prosecutors. The felony menacing charge carries a 3-year maximum prison sentence. He is currently out on bail and is due back in court on March 15.
Brooke is also said to be seeking treatment in rehab, but no one has disclosed the reason, according to Yale Galanter, her attorney, on Monday. She is currently asking that all the charges against Sheen be dismissed.
Both of the couple’s attorney’s have also confirmed that LA child protective service workers visited their home and their 13-month-old twin sons over the weekend. Rosenfield and Galanter say that this was a routine visit that was previously scheduled and related to the assault case.
A source close to the couple says that Sheen is stressed and tired, and both Brooke and the kids are on his mind, along with a lot of other things. He didn’t want to take the chance in getting into a place where he wanted to get high, they explained, so he took a break from all the negativity around him to clear his head and rest. The source added that the couple’s boys will be staying with his parents.
