Kidnapped British boy Sahil Saeed Freed and Recovered
The 5-year-old British boy, Sahil Saeed, that was kidnapped by gunmen in Pakistan earlier this month was reportedly recovered by British intelligence officers shortly after being freed. He is now thought to be at the British High Commission after he was found in a field walking home barefoot and alone. A doctor immediately checked him over and gave the all clear that he was okay.
Adam Thomson, the British High Commissioner in Pakistan, said that Sahil is in good spirits but is very tired. There is still some mystery surrounding the boy’s release, as a Pakistani minister suggested that the father paid a £100,000 ransom to the kidnappers.
The boys mother, Akila Naqqash, described from her home in Greater Manchester how she felt when she found out her Sahil was freed and recovered. She said that it was amazing and couldn’t believe it at first. However, she got to talk to him on the phone, she continue, which reassured her that he was safe and had really been released. It was enough for her, she added.
Naqqash also said that Sahil seemed to be unaffected by the ordeal, during which he had been held captive for about 13 days, and was even asking about his sisters and other family members. She said that he was talking about his toys like a normal little boy.
This is an unbelievable tale that the boy would be so unaffected by being kidnapped for nearly 2 weeks. Since he appeared to be in good health, it seems that the kidnappers at least treated him well and were really only out to get money, not harm to him.
