Kylie Minogue in Sheets for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer

Kylie Minogue, the Australian-born singer, has joined the Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign after having her own run-in with the disease 5 years ago. She is joined by model Claudia Schiffer and actress Sienna Miller to front the campaign, wearing only a silk sheet with the ‘target’ logo on it - photos captured by Mario Testino.

Kylie was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2005 after launching a world tour. She had to cancel her Australian appearances, as well as a charity ball fundraiser in London, while undergoing treatment - confident that she would emerge a survivor. The next year, she continued her world tour in November.

This is the first time in 5 years that Kylie has joined a breast cancer campaign. Talking about the charity, she says that she supports Breakthrough Breast Cancer, the campaign organizer, wholeheartedly and their campaign to raise money for the vital work they do.

The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer campaign was founded by Ralph Lauren in 2006 after Nina Hyde, a friend and Washington Post fashion editor, died from the disease. He created the famously designed ‘target’ logo t-shirt, which has grown to include specialty garments. The campaign has since raised more than £10.5 million.

The campaign will run during the next 6 weeks in the UK, where every year over 46,000 women are diagnosed with the disease. They will sell products via online stores, designer collections and on the high street. They aim to raise awareness of the disease and £1 million to fund research, with a minimum of 30% of the proceeds going to the cause.
