Acer unveils Ethos

Acer unveiled the latest notebook in their Apsire line of laptops. The newest addition, Ethos, offers a secondary touchscreen and features a touchpad control which hosts a multimedia aspect. The firm states that their newest addition offers a console combined with the touchpad aspect to offer a series of commands which can be accessed with a single key.

Ethos will be offered with either the Core i5 or the Core i7 and offers up to 26GB DDR3 memory. Total hard disk space available is 1.28TB and all models feature an ATI 5650 or ATI 5850 graphics card. Both a 15.6 inch and 18.4 inch are available for screen size. All models come with an HD and Blu-ray combo drive.

The Taiwanese-based computer manufacturer has made both a low-cost three speaker, Dolby surround compatible model as well as an upmarket six speaker version which features the full 5.1 amenities. Ethos is not only compact, modern, and efficient, but Acer has maintained their signature low-cost aspect with this latest model as well.

A Core i5 model will cost about £1100 for a 4GB RAN and 320GB hard drive. But the full 16GB model will most likely run about £4000 or higher. Acer also simultaneously revealed their new Timeline X notebooks which are smaller in size ranging from 13.3 inches to 15.6 inches. The Timeline X laptops are just an inch thick and only weigh in at 1.8kg. The cheapest models of the Timeline X run about £600.
