Sky Reveals £35 iPad App

Sky has launched a new Sky Mobile TV application for the iPad, but the problem is that users will have to pay £35 to subscribe. The app will allow iPad owners in the UK to watch sports live on the technology.

The Sky Mobile TV app offers access to all Sky News and Sky Sports channels. This includes coverage of international cricket, Coca Cola Football League games and Barclays Premier League matches. However, those who aren’t customers of Sky will have to pay the higher subscription fee, while existing Sky TV and Sky Player TV customers will only have to pay £6 per month, which is the same as the iPhone app that the company launched last year.

There is some good news from this, as iPad users won’t have to pay the fee to start with. To allow people to try the new app before they are committed, Sky is letting those who aren’t existing customers use the app for free for the first month and will then charge them £35 per month afterward. However, existing Sky customers will get to use the app for free for 3 months and then pay the monthly charge afterward.

Despite this, there are some non-existing customers that are angry about the price tag. One of the issues they have is that the range of channels available with the app is less than those available with the iPhone app. Although they will be getting a higher quality stream on the iPad than the iPhone, they don’t believe the price tag is justified.

This comes as Apple announces they have sold over 2 million units since they launched the device 2 months ago. However, there may be an iPad shortage, as Apple has admitted to having trouble manufacturing enough to meet demand.
