Consumers Recycle iPhone 3G the Most

Recycling comparison website Sell My Mobile has revealed that the iPhone 3G is the mobile handset that was most recycled in the UK in June. Since Apple released the iPhone 4, thousands of people have been trading in their old phones for up to £170 in cash so that they can buy the upgraded one.

The site says that the 8GB and 16GB iPhone 3G models, along with the 16GB version of the 3GS, were the most recycled handsets for the month of June. Some of the other most recycled phones were the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and the Nokia 5800 Xpress Music.

Sell My Mobile also said that the average price that mobile phone recycling sites are offering for the unwanted handsets is £77.75, while some phones are being sold through Sell My Mobile for up to £225. However, they warned that there is a big difference for some sites, with users losing up to £132 if they don’t look for the best recycling price.

According to Apple figures, the company sold over 1.7 million iPhone 4 handsets during just the first three days of the device being made available. This has made it one of the most successful launches in the history of the company. However, many people have been complaining about the new phone’s poor reception, which is caused when their left hand covers the antenna points on the side. Apple has admitted to the problem, but says that it’s an issue with the software, which incorrectly displays the number of bars for signal strength.
