Healthy Kiwis enjoy Weight Watchers and McDonalds partnership

Consumers can’t get enough of the healthy, Weight Watchers-endorsed meals currently offered at McDonalds in New Zealand, as over 100,000 have been sold since the partnership between the two companies began three months ago. The high sales have exceeded even the most optimistic of estimates by McDonalds, demonstrating the incredibly high demand for healthy food choices among hungry Kiwis.

According to Mark Hawthorne, managing director of McDonalds New Zealand, his company is pleased at the success seen thus far with the Weight Watchers partnership. He went on to add that contrary to contrary opinion, consumers who see healthy foods offered at McDonalds are happy to enjoy the offerings rather than go to other dining establishments, as 90 per cent of the customers who purchased a Weight Watchers meal did so after they had already arrived in the store.

The demand for healthier food at McDonalds is greater than previously thought, as evidenced by the fact that some 67,000 side-salads have been purchased since the Weight Watchers items appeared on the menu at the US-based fast-food chain. Mr Hawthorne said it is highly unlikely that such a vast quantity of salads would have been sold in the same time period without the Weight Watchers alliance.
