Sergio Paulinho Wins Tour de France Stage 10

Sergio Paulinho has won the 10th stage of the Tour de France, which was held on Wednesday. Towards the end of the trek, he attacked Vasil Kiryienka to pull ahead. When it looked as though Paulinho had the win, Kiryienka started to come back, but it wasn’t enough to steal the victory. They still had to decided the outcome with a photo finish, though.

Paulinho said that this moment is a good one for himself and his team. He hopes that the team will have a few more victories in the coming days. They started with one goal - the general classification - he continued, but they also want the team prize.

Paulinho went on to explain that the Caisse d’Epargne, Rabobank and Astana are their most important rivals, and that’s why he put himself in the breakaway. This victory is more important to him than an Olympic silver medal, he added, as this is the world’s best race, and winning one stage is the pinnacle of what they can achieve.

The surprising thing is that Paulinho and Kiryienka finished about 14 minutes ahead of the main pack, which included Andy Schleck. However, the overall number one cyclist gets to keep his yellow jersey for at least another day. With no change to the overall standings, Alberto Contador is still hot on his trail. Here is a better look:

  1. Andy Schleck 49h0′56”
  2. Alberto Contador +41”
  3. Samuel Sanchez +2′45”
  4. Denis Menchov +2′58”
  5. Jurgen Van Den Broeck +3′31”
  6. Levi Leipheimer +3′59”
  7. Robert Gesnik +4′22”
  8. Luis-Leon Sanchez +4′41”
  9. Joaquin Rodriguez Oliver +5′08”
  10. Ivan Basso +5′09”
