Thrifty Car Rental Introduces PDA Reservation Process

Thrifty Car Rental, the biggest car hire company in the United Arab Emirates, has announced that they are rolling out PDAs that will allow customers to check vehicles in and out. The service will be rolled out to all Thrifty locations to start with, and it will be used by all pick-up and delivery staff in the Northern Emirates and Dubai.

With this roll out, Thrifty Car Rental becomes the first car rental firm in the Middle East to offer PDAs for this process. The devices are linked to their Vehicle Management System, replacing the manual process that sees staff enter the check-in and check-out application information. This means that the time it takes to rent and return a vehicle will be significantly reduced.

Thrifty Car Rental general manager, Rahul Singh, says that this automation is a huge leap in technology for their locations in the United Arab Emirates. He explained that, as soon as a customers signs the PDA to pick-up or return a vehicle, the data will be automatically reflected across their entire system, which will be immediately accessible to any of their staff. It will significantly improve the overall rental experience of their customers, he added, while it will also increase staff productivity and improve the accuracy of the system.

Singh also boasted that Thrifty Car Rental is leading the way for car hire firms to go digital. They will be significantly cutting costs from non-revenue mileage, salik fees and untraceable traffic fines with this technology, he continued. This is also an eco-friendly solution, he added, as it will reduce the amount of paper they use every day, saving about 1.5 million pieces of paper a year throughout the Emirates.
