Housemates Celebrate Big Brother’s 10th Birthday
The Big Brother housemates were given a birthday-themed task to celebrate the first time the reality show was on television - July 18, 2000. The group was split into 3 teams, who had to battle in a relay race of 3 laps around a race course while keeping a candle lit.
After the laps, they were to light the birthday cake with the candle. The housemates had to restart the race if the candle was blown out, and the windy weather didn’t help. The winners were Mario, John James and Corin, although this was disputed among the contestants. As Mario was lighting the candle at the end, the wind blew the flame out, but Big Brother later confirmed the team to be the winners. Later they were given presents for their efforts and success.
This fun celebration comes after a not so fun Friday for Ife. She was evicted from the house with 56% of the public votes, losing out to Corin and Mario. She was met with a mix of boos and cheers as she left the house - some were saying ‘Get Ife Out.”
Davina McCall, the show’s host, showed Ife clips of John James, Ben, Caoimhe, David and Josie nominating her earlier in the week. She admitted to being a little shocked that David put her forward, saying that she thought they were alright. She thought that the housemates turned on her because she was too honest. Davina agreed, saying that Ife should learn how to keep her mouth shut sometimes. (We agree too!)
When Ife was asked why she believes the public picked her, she told Davina McCall that it may have been because she was in the bathroom a lot. When asked, she also said that she was boring because she went in the house to find out who she is and what she wants to be - not to prance around.
