Brits at German Love Parade describe horrors

Britons who were in attendance of the German Love Parade held in Duirsburg described the scene to reporters after a stampede killed 19 people and injured hundreds of others. The festival was marred by carnage over the weekend as overcrowding and poor planning, evidenced by the decision to have only one entrance to accommodate the thousands of party-goers, led to grief, horror, and death.

Alan Donaldson, a British music fan who travelled to Germany for the event, said the stamped was not unlike a nightmare, and believes that organisers of the event should be prosecuted for their role in causing the chaos. He went on to say that it was the first time he had ever seen anyone die in front of him, and exclaimed that it was an unnecessarily tragic waste of life. Mr Donaldson also said that the venue was much too small for the crowd on hand for the festivities.

Another Briton, Salil Bhate, from Romford, greater London, said he spontaneously decided to go the event, and when he witnessed the carnage unfold, reminded him of a heavy metal concert. He added that the people he saw on the ground had stamp marks on their faces, and it was only after he saw individuals having to be resuscitated that he realised how grave the situation had become.
