Venables’s new identity to stay secret
A judge has ruled that the new identity of child killer Jon Venables must be kept under wraps as he continues to receive death threats. Venables, who killed Merseyside toddler James Bulger along with Robert Thompson when they were 10-years-old, was jailed again for two years on July 23 after admitting child porn offenses.
Mr Justice Bean, who presided over the case at the Old Bailey, ruled that Venables has as much right to protection as anybody else. According to his lawyer, Venables still receives death treats because of the murder.
Venables and Thompson were caught on CCTV aducting two-year-old Bulger from a shopping centre in Bootle. They murdered him on a railway line nearby in what was said to be a reconstruction from a horror film they had watched. They were both given life sentences but were released and given new identities in 2001.
Child pornography was found on Venables’s computer in February and he was recalled back into custody. Mr Justice Bean said the identity restrictions must continue, despite arguments from the media. It was revealed, however, that Venables, now 27, had been living in Cheshire before his most recent arrest.
Judge Bean admitted that there was great public interest in the case but said there was no legitimate interest in knowing his identity, appearance or location in custody. He added that there would be a clear threat to Venables’s life if details were made public.

WHY YET AGAIN SHOULD VENABLES BE GIVEN ANOTHER IDENTITY AS ALSO WHY IS HE GETTING PROTECTED HE SHOULD MIX WITH THE INMATES AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS AND A 2 YEAR SENTENTENCE IS NOTHING AS WHAT WILL BE HIS THIRD THING HE DOES AND POOR TAX PAYERS PAYING FOR HIM TO HAVE A LIFE OF RILEY INSIDE WHY WHY DOES NOT DESEREVE ANY PRIVALAGES AT ALL AND THE JUDGE SHOULD OF PUT IN PRISON INDEFINATE AS HE IS BUZZING NOW HE WILL BE OUT 2 YEARS MAY EVEN BE SOONER FOR BEING A GOOD LITTLE BOY SICK SICK TOTALLY WRONG AND DISCUSSED!!!!
