Footballer Wilshere arrested in London
Arsenal footballer Jack Wilshere was arrested in London during the early morning hours on Sunday, resulting from an incident described as a fracas by Metropolitan Police. Wilshire, 18, who made his debut for the England squad during a friendly match against Hungary last month, has played in all three Arsenal matches this year, and is highly regarded as one of the best up-and-coming players in the Premiere League.
According to a representative for the Metropolitan Police, local law enforcement officials were called to Kensington Street in south London after reports of an assault. Upon arrival, police officers and emergency medical technicians discovered a man and a woman suffering from injuries, both of which were taken to a nearby hospital. The woman had sustained a broken elbow, while the man was treated for minor facial cuts.
A spokesperson for Mr Wilshere said that the young footballer was at the scene, and was only acting as a peacemaker during the incident. The spokesperson confirmed that Mr Wilshere was arrested at approximately 02:45 BST on Sunday, and was later released on bail. He went on to say that Mr Wilshere will cooperate fully with the police regarding the incident.
