O2 venue sees Guns N’ Roses leave stage after cup throwing

Guns N’ Roses front-man Axl Rose stormed off the stage during a performance at the O2 arena in Dublin on Wednesday after rowdy fans began throwing liquid-filled plastic cups at the hard-rock band. A promoter for MCD calmed the feisty Rose down, and although thousands of fans left in irritation during the unscheduled break, the band returned to the stage after a short hiatus in order to finish their set.

Prior to the liquid-throwing debacle, the crowd was already in a cantankerous mood as the band began the performance almost 45 minutes late, an occurrence which has plagued Guns N’ Roses since the band was first formed in the mid 1980s. Once they began the performance at the O2 venue, it took only 22 minutes before Axl Rose left the stage after he issued repeated warnings to the crowd to stop throwing cups.

Dennis Desmond of MCD appeared on stage after the band had walked off and pleaded with the audience to be patient, and that Guns N’ Roses would return to finish their set if no other article was thrown at them during the performance. Mr Desmond told the audience that if they promised not to throw anything else on stage, there would be a great show. The band finally returned at 11:20, finishing the concert at 00:52.

Finally! a review that actually gives an accurate account of what happened! every paper or website that i’ve read which picked up the story have completely blown the whole thing out of proportion, some haven’t even mentioned the bottles claiming he stropped off due to booing rather than being struck by bottles. if only more reporters could write what actually happens, then people might actually be clued in to reality rather than this fantasy land the majority of the sensationalist “news” papers seem to dwell in.
