X Factor Sends Paije Richardson Home
This weekend’s The X Factor results show was a total joke! The problem - Paije Richardson and Cher Lloyd were in the bottom 2, while Wagner Carrilho is still in the competition.
On Saturday’s show, the contestants were given songs by The Beatles. Paije was given Let It Be, and Cher was given Imagine. Now neither of these were really as great as some of the contestants’ previous performances, but they were much better than Wagner, who performed Get Back/Hippy Hippy Shake/Hey Jude. Why is he still there? Katie Waissel’s performance of Help could have been better too. Plus, she has been in the bottom 2 four times this competition, so why did Paije and Cher all of sudden end up in that position?
After the sing-off - during which Paije sang Stop by Sam Brown, and Cher performed Stay by Shakespears Sister - even the judges were very disappointed about the acts being in the bottom 2. All of them agreed that they shouldn’t have been put in that position.
Host Dermot O’Leary went to the judges’ panel for their decision on who to send home. Paije was the one to go after only getting one vote in his favor from Dannii Minogue, his mentor. This wasn’t very surprising, as Cher is a better singer and all-around performer with the potential to be a true pop star. However, Paije shouldn’t have been booted from the competition so early.
After the decision was made, Cher turned to Paije to tell him how sorry she was that he was leaving. Before exiting the stage, Paije told Dermot that he didn’t know what happened this weekend, but he obviously didn’t have the public’s support. He is grateful for being in the competition as long as he was and thanks everyone for the opportunity.
Later Cher said that she was angry about how the voting went. It’s not just that Paije was cut, as she also suggested that Aiden being cut the week before was rather upsetting.
