Cheryl Cole May Not be a US X Factor Judge
It seems that there are now limits to the authority that Simon Cowell has. This comes as he has had to tell Cheryl Cole that it’s unlikely she will be cast as a judge on the US version of The X Factor.
The music mogul had intended to help launch the singer’s career in the US at the same time as launching the show, and she has been rumored to getting a spot on the judges’ panel for a long time. However, it looks as though his plan has failed.
A source has told reporters that Simon feels guilty and hates that he has spent many months promising Cheryl a big American break but will likely have to let her go. It’s no secret how much he adores her, as he loves to have her there flirting with him and believes she is a great talent spotter and judge, as well as works well with him on the panel. He doesn’t want to let her down, but he is under a lot of pressure to get a line-up that will attract up to 30 million viewers.
The insider went on to say that Cheryl may still be able to participate, but she may not want to after this. Fox (the network) doesn’t believe she is a big enough name to be a judge, and she might have to settle for being a mentor on the show.
According to reports, Cheryl’s spot on the panel may be taken by Jessica Simpson, George Michael, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger or Mariah Carey. With the show airing this fall, the decision will be made soon.
