Funeral for Whitney Houston on Saturday

The funeral for Whitney Houston will be held on Saturday at New Hope Baptist Church in New Jersey, where she sang for the first time as a child. She died at the age of 48 in a Beverly Hills hotel room on Saturday, just before the Grammy Awards. On Tuesday, the owner of Whigham Funeral Home confirmed the location.

Houston had a shiny 25-year singing career with six Grammys and over 400 other awards. However, her success was overshadowed by her later alcohol, marijuana and cocaine problems. The last time she was in rehab was May last year. Due to her addictions, it has been speculated that she could have died of drug overdose.

However, police tried to shoot down any rumours, as they don’t know the cause of death yet, nor the circumstances leading to her death. They have only noted that Houston was found underwater in the bathtub by a member of her staff. She was unresponsive when paramedics arrived, and authorities are conducting a homicide investigation right now.

Police also haven’t commented on if prescription drugs were found in her room, but Los Angeles assistant chief coroner Ed Winter said prescriptions were in her room. The names of the drugs and how many were found weren’t revealed. These prescriptions will be compared to her medical records as part of the investigation.

Houston was in Los Angeles for the Grammy Awards and planned to attend an annual pre-award party on Saturday night. Several stars in the music industry have expressed their adoration for the singer, and some have visited a makeshift memorial outside the hotel where she died.
