Ethan Zohn Fights Cancer
In 2002, Ethan Zohn became the winner of ‘Survivor: Africa’, which was the third cycle of the series, but now he is facing a new battle with cancer. The 35-year-old said to People that this will be the ultimate Survivor game, with only one outcome: to win. There is no other option, he added.
Zohn went to the doctor on suspicion of some sort of skin condition after having strange itching and night sweats. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s disease, stage two, on April 30th. Not long after this, he was declared to have a rare form of the disease, CD20-positive Hodgkin’s lymphoma, which came after doctors found a mass on the left side of his chest and a swollen lymph node. Last Friday he started on chemotherapy treatments.
Zohn says that his life flashed before him when he heard the news. Himself and Jenna Morasca, his longtime girlfriend and winner of Survivor season six, have both lost their parents to cancer. However, the couple has a good reason to hope, now that the survival rate for this disease has risen to 90 percent.
Although the outcome is hopeful, Zohn will lose his curly hair over the next few weeks, but instead of watching the signature do fall out, he has planned to just shave it off. He told People that his hair is who he is, and he will get a new do that is fun and something that he has always wanted, like a Mohawk. He will just go with the flow, as that is how he works, Zohn added, and he won’t be voted out of this battle.
