‘Big Brother’ Launches for 10th Series
Last night, the 10th series of ‘Big Brother’ kicked off and sixteen possible housemates were ushered into the reality television house to begin the race to win £100,000 in prize money. The show kicked off at 9pm on Channel 4, when Davina McCall introduced the new contestants.
The new housemates could be on the show for the next thirteen weeks until the voters choose a winner. The oldest member on the show is 41, and the youngest is 18. It also seems that this group of eight girls and eight guys are the most diverse that have entered the house to date.
In a new twist for the show, the housemates will have to compete in a task during the next three days in order to win their right to stay on the show. Until they pass the test, the new competitors will not be given their suitcases and be forced to live in one room with only porridge to eat. For any contestant that doesn’t complete a challenge, they will face possibly being evicted from the house on Sunday’s live show at the mercy of voters.
So far, two of the sixteen have become housemates after completing a challenge. Rodrigo Lopez, a 23-year-old Brazilian student, was told to persuade another housemate in four minutes into letting him shave off both of their eyebrows and draw on a pair of glasses and a mustache. Dubliner Noirin Kelly, a 25-year-old Irish girl, went through with it, gaining a place in the house. However, Rodrigo didn’t mention that she would have to draw this on her face every day until told otherwise.
