‘The Closer’ Has Strong Opening Over ‘Raising the Bar’

The procedural heavy hitting series ‘The Closer’ and ‘Raising the Bar’ on the TNT network saw different-sized audiences on Monday night. ‘The Closer’, an American crime drama, almost matched the numbers of its debut last year, while ‘Raising the Bar’, an American law drama, dropped significantly.

‘The Closer’ premiered season five at 9pm on Monday night, delivering its typically huge amount of viewers, with a 7.1 million audience. Its premier of season four was 9 percent higher, but the show still had the largest cable audience for a scripted series telecast this year so far.

The premier of ‘Raising the Bar’ season two came on at 10pm Monday night, but half of the audience who had just viewed ‘The Closer’ changed the channel. This left the show with only 3.6 million viewers, which is a 53% decline to the 7.7 million viewers for the show’s premiere last September.
