‘True Blood’ Returns for Second Season
The HBO series ‘True Blood’ relaunched for a second season last night at 9pm, and the characters were as cool and creepy as before. This new season has also taken the series up a notch.
As a warning to viewers, ‘True Blood’ would be considered rated R if it was a movie, as it is filled with violence, tons of blood, a lot of language, and sex. The sex scenes can be compared to a late night show on a pay-cable channel.
Sookie, the mind reader, and Bill, Sookie’s 173-year-old vampire boyfriend, are still pretty hot and heavy, while nearly the rest of Bon Temps (the backwoods Louisiana town) is now doing the same. There is also a lot more gore in the second season, with the arrival of Maryann, who showed up at the end of the first season.
The new season has picked right up at the end of the first with a horrible murder. The reality of vampires in ‘True Blood’ is a fact of life. Their presence is intriguing to some, but can provoke loathing and fear in others. The horrific murder is just one intriguing part in the show.
The next season will include Jason’s involvement with the Fellowship of the Sun Church, Lafayette’s disappearance, Bill mentoring Jessica (the teenage vampire who he was forced to create), the bizarre happenings that follow Maryann (a big mystery), and the disappearance of a Texas vampire who is very old and very powerful, an event that strikes the interest of Eric (the Louisiana vampire sheriff).
