Perez Hilton Sues Black Eyed Peas Manager Polo Molina for Assault
Perez Hilton has followed through with statements made by his lawyer on Tuesday, suing Black Eyed Peas manager Polo Molina for assault after an alleged altercation early Monday morning. The lawsuit has been filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress. The suit also states that Molina hit Hilton a number of times in a spineless act, causing an eye injury.
The lawsuit against Molina aims to protect Hilton’s right to free speech, as it claims that the attack was over comments the blogger made about the Black Eyed Peas’ new album. Hilton is seeking more than $25,000 in damages, including medical costs and damages for emotional and physical distress, mental anguish, and humiliation. He plans to give the money from the lawsuit to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
Bryan Freedman, Hilton’s lawyer, said that Perez was assaulted by the road manager for the band, because he wouldn’t agree to halt writing about the band on his website. No matter the feelings anyone has about Hilton, the lawyer continued, he is entitled to his freedom of speech without the fear of physical violence.
Meanwhile, Hilton says that he is extremely bothered by the reaction of some people in reference to the incident - some people aren’t sympathetic. About the August 5th court date, he says that he looks forward to standing up for his rights, and intends to seek every lawful remedy on Monlina.
In related news, Hilton has issued an apology for saying an anti-gay slur against will.i.am during the incident. On his site he posted that he is sorry if any of his good work has been tainted by him using the hurtful word to hurt someone else; it was stupid.
