Eco-citizen offers to French customers from Orange

With the whole world going green, Orange is making use of the new craze and offering their French customers new services and products that are better for the environment.

The mobile phone giants have launched a new service where a range of pre-owned mobiles can be purchased in Orange stores across France to encourage the recycling of old phones rather than simply throwing them away. The service is known as “Les Occasions” and they will come with a six month guarantee, new charger, battery and headset and has become available in all of its French stores after a successful trial period.

The “Seconde Vie Mobile” project has also been introduced and the idea is that this programme will work as a supplier to the second hand market and any customer, Orange or otherwise, can donate their old phones into any Orange store around the country in return for a voucher.

Customers can value the worth of their phone by logging onto www.agir-reflexesverts.orange.fr and filling out the details of the phone. As well as trying to encourage people to not waste perfectly good phones, Orange will also make a €5 donation to the Emmaüs International association for every phone deemed worthy of a voucher that will be worth anything between €30 and €70. If the mobile is deemed unfit for a voucher Orange will recycle it.

The scheme is just one of the new ideas that Orange are implementing and may soon be welcomed into the UK as part of the plan to be more environmentally conscious.
