Airline crew bare all in safety video

Air New Zealand has found an innovative way to get the attention of its passengers during their in-flight safety video, which all too often gets ignored, by dressing their cabin crew in nothing but body paint.

The national New Zealand carrier has cheekily named the video “Bare essentials of safety” and the safety tips have been screened on many of the primary domestic routes. Unsurprisingly YouTube have gotten their hands on a copy of the tape and four days after its launch they had received 1.2 million viewers.

Even the pilots have joined in on the fun and the video shows three cabin crew and the pilot minus their real clothes and dressed solely in body paint that looks impressively like their uniforms. The usual seat belt, life jacket and oxygen spiel is given during the three minute safety video and the idea was also used in the airlines television adverts and has been used alongside the company slogan; at Air New Zealand, our fares have nothing to hide.

It took around three hours to apply the paint and not only the pilots and cabin crew agreed to appear in the colourful uniform but also chief executive Rob Fyfe. “We think in tough times there’s a premium for making people smile and it gives us the opportunity to stand out in a crowd,” commented Air New Zealand’s marketing general manager Steve Bayliss.
