Carrentals.co.uk Survey Unveils Disturbing Experiences at Motorway Service Stations in Britain
With the summer outlook already bumpy for tourism in the UK and millions of travelers getting on the road, a new survey has revealed some disturbing experiences that travelers have at motorway service stations in Britain. The survey - conducted by Carrentals.co.uk - found that one in every six people would like to have an illicit romantic liaison at a motorway service station. However, one in twenty people already have.
Carrentals.co.uk is a leading car hire comparison site, comparing up to 35 rental companies in more than 9,000 locations around the world. In the survey, they questioned more than 2,300 people on their experiences at service stations and garages throughout the United Kingdom, finding that, while there were a variety of complaints about cleanliness and prices, there was also an interest in these place for romantic trysts. Some of the top service station locations for these experiences are in the North West and Midlands, while the South East and London proved to be popular locations as well. These places are most popular among the 36-45 age group who have tried them and are most likely to try them.
One of the main issues that the survey found, however, were the high prices charged by service stations. Almost 60% of the respondents said that service stations need to lower their prices on items such as sweets, medical supplies, CDs, and souvenirs. Another complaint was the toilet facilities, with one in every five of the respondents saying that they need to be cleaner. Men proved to be more critical of the cleanliness than women. Additionally, the choice of food offered by service stations was also highlighted as needing significant improvement.
