‘Project Runway’ Season 6 Ready for August
‘Project Runway’ Season 6, which has been long-delayed, is now scheduled to debut on Lifetime on August 20 with 16 new contestants. The reality show hasn’t had a new episode since early 2008, when they tried to move from airing on Bravo to airing on Lifetime. In April, the dispute over the move was finally settled.
Tim Gunn, a fashion guru, introduced the designers to People magazine while the show prepares to launch. The new group of fashion designers includes a variety, and nearly half of the contestants call New York City their home, while three of them come from abroad - Nicolas Putvinski comes from Moscow, Irina Shabeyeva from the Republic of Georgia, and Gordana Gehlhausen is from out of country as well. Gunn questions Putvinski’s sincerity after making remarks about American fashion, but he says that he admires Shabeyeva’s sense of proportion and fit.
The show has made a few changes, with celebrities like Lindsay Lohan and Christina Aguilera making cameos during challenges. However, not everything has changed, as Heidi Klum will resume her position as host, along with Gunn and judges Michael Kors and Nina Garcia.
On Wednesday, Klum gave a small spoiler for the show while she took a break from filming the season. She said that the girls are very strong, and there has been a lot of drama. We all know that drama will only get more viewers to tune in though - to see who is crying and fighting next.
Before the show debuts, viewers can go to Lifetime’s website to read and watch bios and videos of the contestants.
