Michael Douglas’ Son Moved to Federal Prison, Girlfriend Arrested for Smuggling

Cameron Douglas, the son of actor Michael Douglas, has just been transferred to the Metropolitan Correctional Center, a federal holding facility in New York City. It’s been reported that he violated terms of his probation when he asked Kelly Scott, his 32-year-old girlfriend, to smuggle him heroin in an electric toothbrush while under house arrest. Now she has been arrested as well.

Scott was arrested after a suspicious security guard discovered a quarter of an ounce of the drugs in the battery compartment, and she has now been charged with drug smuggling. After finding the heroin in the toothbrush, police also found more heroin, as well as meth and marijuana, during a raid in the hotel room Scott was living in.

Scott claims that she didn’t have a clue that the toothbrush was stashed with heroin. However, a judge ruled that she would remain under custody without bail, but was also granted that she be allowed treatment for addiction to heroin and hypertension after a request by her lawyer. She is being held at the Metropolitan Correction Center as well, and there is a preliminary hearing set for her case on September 10.

Douglas is facing a mandatory minimum 10 years to life in prison if he is convicted, which is very likely. He followed his grandfather and father into acting and was in the 2003 comedy ‘It Runs in the Family’ with both of them. Apparently something went very wrong, as he has been arrested for drugs more than once previously.

Neither Scott’s or Douglas’ lawyers have commented to press on the issue.
