Celine Dion Expecting Second Child from 8-year Frozen Embryo
Celine Dion is now expecting her second kid, and according to her doctor Zev Rosenwaks, who performed the in vitro fertilization that made the pregnancy possible, the singer is very excited. Rosenwaks said that she could hear Celine Dion chuckling when she called him to say the pregnancy test was positive.
The most surprising part about the in vitro fertilization to many people is that it was done with an embryo that she had frozen eight years ago. She had the fertilized egg harvested when she was tried to conceive her first child, a son, Rene-Charles, in 2001. According to Rosenwaks though, freezing an embryo for this long is not really an issue, as people have had embryos frozen for more than fifteen years before and successfully had a baby.
Celine Dion decided to try to have another child in 2007 when she completed a move to Las Vegas and then consulted Rosenwaks. Then when Celine ended her ‘Taking Chance’ world tour earlier this year, she revealed that she was going to try to have another baby. The singer told Oprah Winfrey that they would try to have another baby after her tour. She had a small window of hope, she said, but they have been blessed already to have Rene-Charles, their miracle baby.
Although she is still in the early phase of pregnancy, the doctor says that she is doing well. He says that he looks forward to hearing the heartbeat, and Celine and Rene are both looking forward to a healthy pregnancy.
